Announcing Our New Office Space!
Orange Hat Publishing has new office space for work and meetings! You can find us at 11803 W North Ave, Suite 204, in Wauwatosa, WI!
Orange Hat has had many homes over our nearly 14 years in business. One spot that was extra special was our suite in downtown Waukesha in the Thrive Architects building. Many of our authors celebrated milestone moments in that space and enjoyed the camaraderie of the staff amid a beautifully curated collection of vintage and Midcentury Modern furniture and decor. It was hard for everyone when we stopped leasing that space at the end of 2023. Shannon and I—just publishing friends back then, not yet partners—had at least a couple of phone calls about the change, and I ended up writing the email Shannon sent out to authors announcing the news.
After we stopped leasing the office suite, we kept our same address and maintained our small shipping room. For practical purposes, that room has worked well! It holds our inventory of books and allows us to package up orders. But it’s not a feasible workspace for anything other than shipping. And it’s certainly not a place we can have meetings.
Our new space is a perfect balance between the shipping room and the new office suite. In 300 square feet, we have a desk area where I work (and occasionally Lauren Blue too), a table for author meetings, and a space for inventory and shipping (or we will, once we finish moving about 4,000 books and shelves to hold them from Waukesha!). The room has two large south-facing windows and is wonderfully quiet. I’ve enjoyed working here for the last three weeks. I’m also looking forward to having some kids toys here, for my kids (and any other kids) to enjoy when there’s work to do and they don’t have school or another activity.
